How can you help support a/perture cinema (and help us sustain our mission to bring the best in independent, foreign, documentary, and art on film to the community)?
Buy a concession
We've got lots to offer! a/perture cinema's concession bar features more than the typical multiplex- we offer a rotating selection of over fifteen domestic and imported beers and over ten wines that are available by the glass and the bottle. Want something a little more traditional? a/perture serves fountain Coca-Cola products as well as assorted bottled drinks and made-to-order hot coffee and tea. Of course a trip to the movies would not be complete without a/perture's freshly popped popcorn--which makes a surprisingly good pairing with an elegant red wine or nice cold beer. As a local business, we're proud to carry a number of locally made products, including Wolfies Frozen Custard, Chad's Carolina Corn, candy from It's Chocolate, beer from Foothills Brewery, and more. a/perture also has a large selection of ten different candies ranging from imported Belgian chocolate to staples like M&Ms, Raisinets and Skittles.

Since opening in 2010, a/perture cinema has enriched the community through the art of film. Through both narrative and documentary film (in both English and foreign languages), a/perture showcases educational, thought-provoking and inspiring films. a/perture strives to celebrate and promote the diversity in our community and the artistic heritage that abounds in the City of Arts & Innovation.
Over the past several years, we have partnered with several organizations to co-promote films whose subject matter or theme is relevant to a partner’s particular constituents. A great example of a past success is our partnership with the Community Design Studio for our screenings of the film IF YOU BUILD IT earlier this year. This particular film is about the design build program at a high school in Bertie County, NC. CDS promoted the film and organized a series of speakers to discuss certain elements of the film over the course of its weeklong run. Our partnership benefited both a/perture by increasing our attendance numbers over the course of the film’s weeklong run and promoting CDS to an entirely new audience.
In order to work with more partners and increase our attendance numbers for these specialized films, we are launching a formal program this summer called “allies.”
The best part is that the allies program is that it is FREE! Signing up to be one of the a/perture allies offers your organization the opportunity to sponsor a film that we feel matches your mission or audience base. We use our film knowledge to match your local business, non-profit or community group with a film whose subject matter or story fits you. All that is required of you is your help to promote the film and encourage members of your organization to attend while at the same time providing you with the opportunity to reach a uniquely new audience.
Want to find out more about how your organization can become one of our allies? Please e-mail us at
